Economic Abuse

Economic abuse is controlling you financially – it can involve taking and spending your money or it can involve making you financially dependent on the abuser and withholding money from you, so you don’t have any financial freedom. 

If your partner won’t allow you to work, so you have no income of your own, or they control all the money and make you ask for money for basic needs, or if they prevent you from claiming benefits or from being able to pursue education or achieve higher qualifications, or you are being excluded from decisions regarding spending, then you are experiencing financial abuse.
